Day 3 - Ferns, Kilkenny

After a yummy breakfast courtesy of Rose & Brandon at the Bed & Breakfast we packed up and headed out. We got general directions from Brandon, hoping that it would not take us as long to get to Kilkenny as it took us to get to Avoca. His directions took us through the town of Ferns. In the town of Ferns I experienced. . . . .

MY FIRST CASTLE!!!!!!!!

It was fantastic. At first we didn't see the castle, we only saw the Abbey and cemetery, but Erin & Jordan used their map reading skills and we found it! We think that during the high touristy season you can actually go up into the castle because their are padlocks on the doors but we still got to go on the castle grounds and that was cool enough for me!!!

After Ferns we continued on our journey to Kilkenney. We took some insanely small roads, found that the parking lot we had planned on parking in had been torn up so we drove around for oh say like 20 minutes to find parking that did not require us to walk miles to get to Kilkenney castle. Eventually, we found parking in a great little garage abotu 5 minutes from the castle. excellent!

We decided not to tour the castle because we wouldnt be able to get in for over an hour and we still had quite a drive ahead of us so we went and found yummy lunch at Eddie Rockets and then got back on the road toward County Tipperary! We stopped on the way, not sure why, ask Erin. But we got some fun pictures.

Once we arrived in Cashel Erin and I took a jaunt over to main street and neither of us brought our camera but man we wish we had!!! the Rock of Cashel is an AMAZING view!!! We got plenty of pictures of it when we went on Day 6 but it was a very rainy day. At least it is one of our only regrets!!!
