**There is another post below from this morning and a few others from the wedding that were posted a few days ago. Don't miss them!**
Yes my friends and family, it is true!! I got the externship!!!! I had an interview on April 13th, our one month anniversary! The interview went really well, both the HR person and the director of education and I got along really well and the conversations were very comfortable. The director of education said she wanted to send me around for a day with the Clinical Nurse Specialist in Acute Care because she thinks that is the degree and position I need to work for. That was a good sign. The HR recruiter said I would hear back by the end of the week, but that I had no reason to worry. That was another good sign. Then that weekend went by, then the next. Then I started to get worried because I REALLY wanted this externship. A chance to be in the hospital, getting paid, to do nurse things! I would work my preceptors 3-12 hour days in a unit (hopefully a critical care unit, that was my request). The money is not bad and their goal is to keep you working part time through the end of school and then to hire you upon graduation, would that not be FABULOUS!??! Well. I finally heard back from nice HR Recruiter man and I GOT THE EXTERNSHIP!!!!! I am so excited. Jans & I are so excited. It means that I will have my first paying job in a hospital and not a moment to soon! I start June 7th, have a week of orientation, then 7 weeks of experience.
I am stoked. Thank heavens for fabulous instructors who write amazing letters of recommendation!!!!
